Happy International Women's Day - “Show them what crazy dreams can do”. With the powerful, inspiring and breath-taking Dream Crazier by Nike, narrated by Serena Williams, APTA is today campaigning for greater progress towards full gender equality and against the double standards women face at work.
“Dramatic”, “nuts”, “delusional”, “unhinged”, “hysterical”, “irrational” and “crazy”, are used to describe women showing emotion at work. This difference in perception often hurts women's advancement in the workplace. Women may be penalized for acting overly "emotional," "hysterical" or "aggressive" in some situations, but men in the same will instead be praised as "passionate” or “outspoken”.
“Crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy and crazy.” Thank you Serena Williams and NIKE for calling out this double standard. APTA is fighting these kinds of damaging perceptions by raising awareness and always engaging with these situations as they may arise.
